about

This is a song about charity. Or to the point charity gigs. I must state for the record that I am not against charity or charity gigs. The reason I must state that to this imaginary record is because of this song. It’s a true story and some of you may have been there, early on the bill on a shitty Sunday at Sneakers. The gig that caused Hogan to hate reggae. The gig where we went on last to the deep disappointment of everyone who wanted to just go home. When we dropped acid about half way though

lyrics

spend a Sunday in a barn slick with beer sweat
wracked with hippies with seedy cigarettes
white funk bands act up at the bar
drowning out the folk chicks who came in one car
pissing off the punk kids from the rich side of town
nothing but bands, no one else came around
except the girlfriends of drummers
the bass players sponsor
the girls handing out the Capri samplers

every disaster gets a charity gig
and every charity gig is a disaster

too many bands with too many plans
too much time on your hands
Cadillac dreams of your late teens
sucked in and blown out by the gram
an onslaught of terrible bands
and the ego killing appearance of all their friends
look back at your sad lot and make amends
add alcohol, add it again

every disaster gets a charity gig
and every charity gig is a disaster

Come on children
let us line up in the proper order
let us swing for the angels , Let us honor our guests
and let us never speak of the Hopi Fest
